California and Western Medicine - These documents from the December 1931 issue of this journal include three related items: a scientific article “Observations on Bacillus Typhosus in its Filterable State” co-authored by Dr. Arthur Kendall and Dr. Royal Rife; an editorial “Is a New Field About To Be Opened in the Science of Bacteriology?”; and a news item about the Rife microscope demonstration and subsequent dinner at Dr. Milbank Johnson’s home on 20 November 1931, which includes a list of the attendees.

California & Western Rife microscope demonstration

Science - The Supplement section of this well known journal published an article on 11 December 1931 titled “Filterable Bodies Seen With the Rife Microscope”. The article reviews the Rife & Kendall demonstration in Pasadena, California, which occurred a few weeks earlier.

The Graphic - A science opinion article “Explanations of Science” by Professor H. Levy, dated 30 January 1932. Contains a picture of Rife with one of his microscopes.

Science - This article by Dr. Arthur Kendall includes a full description of the growth and filtration procedures used on Bacillus typhosus cultures in early November 1931, shortly before those cultures were taken to California for examination under a Rife microscope. The article was not published until March 1932, and is titled “The Filtration of Bacteria”.

Proceedings of the Staff Meetings of the Mayo Clinic - “Observations on filter-passing forms of Eberthella typhi (Bacillus typhosus) and of the streptococcus from poliomyelitis”, by Edward C. Rosenow, July 1932. Because a copy of the original journal version has not yet been located, this document is a transcription of the original article, the transcriber unknown.

Reviews recent advances in microscopy; a significant portion of the article is devoted to the Rife #3 universal microscope. Includes photographic plates in the body of the text; numerous references.

The Smithsonian Institution - “The New Microscopes” by R.E. Seidel, M.D. & M. Elizabeth Winter, 1945. A reprint of the article earlier published in 1944 in the Journal of the Franklin Institute. Reviews recent advances in microscopy; a significant portion of the article is devoted to the Rife #3 universal microscope. Photographic plates are at the end of the article.

Aerohrcrafter - Presenting a Brief History of the Evolution of the Microscope”, Aerohrcrafter magazine, January 1954. This document is a transcription of an article written by Rife for the Aerohrcrafter magazine, a publication of Rohr Aircraft Corporation. It includes a brief history of microscopy, and details about Rife’s #3 universal microscope. While we have not found an original copy of the magazine article, an image of the front cover is available, which is included here. This transcription may contain some minor errors; the transcriber is unknown.
